Greetings, As always, thank you for reading this newsletter! If you are new here, welcome ๐ (See what you missed in past newsletters.) We will review last month's pay transparency discussion and share LinkedIn poll results. If you are connected to the Boston area, check out the virtual collaboration I'm participating in with the Japan Society of Boston on June 3. If you're involved in HR and have time on June 17, join a free Lunch & Learn. The 30-minute summary of last month's HR Summit (in the Japanese language) is available for your viewing. Lastly, I welcome you to consider how an online cross-cultural workshop could be helpful for your organization if you experience miscommunications and inefficiency when working between the US and Japan. Sincerely, Kasia ๏ผใซใผใทใฃ๏ผ Founder, Ikigai Connections & Sr. Consultant, Japan Consulting Office (LinkedIn) Pay transparency on the Nihongo Jobs job board (poll results)Last month's newsletter shared that the Nihongo Jobs job board currently does not require job ads to have salary information, but that it may become required in the future. (View April's newsletter here.) Some employers and recruiters commented that they agree with the idea to require salary/rate information. (If you have a different opinion, it's not too late to hit "reply" and share your thoughts!) This also was presented on LinkedIn via a poll, and there were quite a few impressions (3,951 as of May 27!). Click here to see the full post, read comments, and join in the discussion. It was intriguing to see that "No" and "Depends on the role" were nearly tied. If you have a moment, please read the comments to see how job seekers think about this topic ๐ก The decision to require salary/rate information on the job board is nearing a "yes" and may be implemented soon, but now it's a matter of how to do it from the technical perspective so that it shows up properly on the job board and in search engines in terms of either/both salary and rate maximum and minimum ranges. At any rate, it is still highly recommended to have a salary or rate range listed on any job ad that you post, so please keep this in mind for the Nihongo Jobs job board and other websites if you're seeking great candidates.
